Join the Cumberland Bat Project and the Vancouver Island Mountain Centre for Bat Walk to Battleship Lake. The night begins at 7pm with a tour of the Mountain Centre, followed by a trip out to Paradise Meadows with local biologists, naturalists and storytellers to learn about the evolution, mythology, stories, biology and ecology of the bats of Vancouver Island and beyond. Find out about how climate change is impacting bats, and try out the cool technology used to actually listen to the bats’ echo location calls. You’ll also learn about the other creatures who share the night skies.
This walk will head out before dusk, returning well after dark with hot chocolate around the campfire. Bring good shoes, water, a snack and a headlamp (red light preferred). $5 payable on the night.
